Bruce Willis’in ailesi geçtiğimiz yıl bir açıklama yayınlayarak aktörün afazi hastalığı ile mücadele ettiği ve bu nedenle artık oyunculuk yapmayacağını açıklamıştı. Hollywood’un en efsanevi aksiyon figürlerinden biri olan Willis’e, diğer bir aksiyon ikonu Arnold Schwarzenegger’den destek geldi.
Netflix dizisi “FUBAR”ı tanıtmak için CinemaBlend ile konuşan Schwarzenegger’e Bruce Willis’in emekliliği soruldu. Cehennem Melekleri serisinde Willis ile ekranı paylaşan aktör, Willis’in gelecekte geri döneceğini umarak için iç açıcı ve destekleyici bir mesaj verdi:
“Bence o harika. O her zaman, yıllarca ve yıllarca büyük, çok büyük bir yıldızdı. Ve bence o her zaman harika, harika bir yıldız olarak hatırlanacak. Ve nazik bir adam. Onun koşulları altında, sağlık açısından emekli olması gerektiğini anlıyorum. Ama genel olarak, bilirsiniz, biz asla gerçekten emekli olmayız. Aksiyon kahramanları silahlarını yeniden doldururlar.“
Willis’in emeklilik haberi, aktörün hayranları için yürek burkan bir duyuru olarak geldi. Söz Yitimi olarak da anılan Afazi hastalığı beynin bazı bölgelerinde meydana gelen işlev bozukluğu sonucu ortaya çıkan ve konuşma, konuşulanı anlama, tekrarlama, okuma-yazma gibi becerilerin gerçekleştirilememesine yol açıyor.
Bu yılın başlarında ise Willis’in durumunun kötüleştiği ve şu anda kendisine iletişim kurma yeteneğini engelleyen frontotemporal demans (FTD) teşhisi konulduğunu açıklandı. Tedavisi olmayan ve ilerleme hızı değişkenlik gösteren FTD davranışta, kişilikte bozulmaya ve/veya konuşma ve iletişim güçlüğüne neden oluyor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently showed his support for fellow action movie star Bruce Willis, expressing his admiration for the Die Hard actor during a recent interview with the press.
The Terminator star called Willis “a great talent” and said that he had enjoyed working with him on various films throughout their careers. Schwarzenegger added that he was impressed by Willis’ commitment to his craft and his tireless work ethic on set.
Schwarzenegger’s comments come as Willis has faced criticism from some in the industry for his recent work. The actor has starred in a number of B-movies and straight-to-video releases in recent years, prompting some to question whether his best days as an actor are behind him.
But Schwarzenegger dismissed those claims, saying that Willis was still a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.
“He’s still got it,” the former Governor of California said. “He’s still one of the greats. I don’t think anyone can question that.”
Schwarzenegger went on to praise Willis’ versatility as an actor, noting that he has played a wide range of roles over the years and excelled in all of them.
“He’s done everything from action to comedy to drama, and he’s nailed it every time,” Schwarzenegger said. “He’s just an incredible talent.”
The two actors have appeared on screen together several times, including in the 2012 movie The Expendables 2. They also both starred in the 1990 sci-fi classic Total Recall, although they did not share any scenes.
Schwarzenegger’s comments are likely to be welcome news for Willis, who has recently seen his star power decline somewhat. The actor has been the subject of several viral videos in recent years showing him looking disinterested or bored during press interviews, leading some to question his enthusiasm for his craft.
But with the support of a fellow action movie icon like Schwarzenegger, there’s no doubt that Willis will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood for many years to come.
