
Coursera CEO, Dünya Ekonomik Forumu’nda Kazakistan’ın İşbirlikçi Modelini Vurguluyor

Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda, the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland from January 15-19 Speaking about the successes of Kazakhstan as a collaborative between institutional collaborations and businesses.
Maggioncalda participated in the panel session of the Race to Reskill, where the experts discussed innovative business and policy approaches to support reskilling, upskilling, and job transitions.
Maggioncalda specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impact of digital transformation on jobs. The necessary skills for individuals and institutions to thrive in the modern economy and discussed how AI can broaden or narrow the opportunity gap globally.
Maggioncalda emphasized the role of governments in improving higher education systems and cited Kazakhstan as an example. He discussed the collaborative efforts between the government and businesses, especially the work with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
Maggioncalda said, “Not only did the government lay out the policy framework for credit transfers, but they also subsidized a set of industry certificate licenses and donated 1,000 licenses per school to 25 different public and private adult education programs. The government took the initiative to sponsor not only the entire training but also at least a pilot test so that universities do not have to overcome the financing barrier to start seeing how these types of capabilities can make a difference in the curriculum offerings available to students.”
In an exclusive interview with the Astana Times during the Astana International Forum in 2023, Maggioncalda commended the remarkable surge in enrollment and praised Kazakhstan’s unwavering dedication to human capital development.
He highlighted the government’s strategic approach to facilitate institutions in providing online skilling to equip the population with skills necessary for securing quality jobs and fostering economic prosperity.
